Fiesole is the town on top of the hill near Florence and the site of the ancient city that stood in this area. It wasn't until the Romans that cities were built on rivers instead of hills.

The ants at Fiesole tore this small breadcrumb up and carried it back to their hole. The ants are quite large for California standards.

Part of the way up there was a WWI memorial for those from Fiesole. The trees and monument frame the city.
